Installation and Maintenance of Industrial Fan Motor
Date: 4.21.2019     Author: Vanse
The reduction motor is the main power equipment of the industrial ceiling fan, is also the top priority for the installer to check in the installation and routine maintenance. Particularly, three-phase motors are not specially customized for the industrial fan, which often have problems such as oil leakage and air outlet blockage. Therefore, special attention should be paid to the detection of the motor to find and eliminate the hidden dangers, ensure the safe operation of the motor and improve the success rate of one-time trial run of the motor. Meantime, it also saves the cost of test run for the motor. Generally speaking, the motor installation and maintenance process mainly focuses on the machinery and electricity.

Large Industrial Fan Motor

1. Machinery

(1) Casing: the industrial fan motor is easy to suffer mechanical damage due to external force during transportation, which is mainly reflected in the collision, deformation and crack of the casing and end cover. Therefore, before the installation of the motor, the motor shall be carefully inspected, the deformed part shall be mechanically restored, and the cracked part shall be repaired by built-up welding.

(2) Stator and rotor core: the damage on the surface of the iron core is also easy to cause motor failure. In case of damage, burr shall be removed with fine file to eliminate short circuit of silicon steel sheet. After cleaning, insulating paint shall be applied and heated for drying. If the iron core surface is rusted due to damp and other reasons, it shall be polished with sandpaper and coated with insulating paint after cleaning.

(3) Loose connection between iron core and base can produce noise. At this time, the original set screw can be tightened. If the set screw fails, re- drill and tap the set hole on the base, and tighten the set screw.

(4) Bearing: there is water ingress and corrosion on the surface of the bearing rolling element. Due to the existence of rust, the falling metal powder will cause overheating and damage. The rust spots on the outer surface of the bearing can be erased with sandpaper in 00 Model, then put it into gasoline to clean it, and replace the grease.

(5) Lubricating oil inspection: if the lubricating oil deteriorates, too much or too little lubricating oil will cause bearing overheating or even burn out during motor operation, which will cause serious consequences for the motor. When filling lubricating oil, it must be ensured that the amount of lubricating grease is 1/2~2/3 of the cavity height.

2. Electricity

(1) Lead wire and assembly line: if the lead wire and assembly line are damaged, there may be heating or even fusing at the damaged part of the lead wire during test run and operation, and the damaged part shall be replaced.

(2) The wound rotor motor shall also check the incrustant and dirt of the slip ring, whether the brush lifting mechanism is rusted to stuck, whether the brush pressure is normal, and whether the brush is close to the surface of the slip ring.

(3) Inspection of motor grounding device: Motor grounding is an important link. Before test run, the motor grounding device shall be inspected to follow the grounding specification.

In short, during the installation, test run and daily maintenance of the large industrial fan, the faults of the motor shall be investigated and handled to ensure that the motor is in normal operation state, ensure the safe operation of the motor and prolong the service life of the motor.

In view of the failure problem of the traditional motor, Vanse  cooperates with German Greiffenberger to customize the special reduction motor for the industrial fan, which effectively avoids the problems of oil leakage, ash feeding and shaft breaking of the transmission motor, and greatly improves the rotation efficiency and product performance of the industrial fan.
